Rosin
Rosin
Rosinox® is a bleaching agent and dismutation catalyst for rosin and rosin esters.
Rosinox® is a low-molecular-weight alkylphenol disulfide oligomer containing 31.5% sulfur.
Produced by Arkema Rotterdam and distributed by MLPC.
Rosinox®, a bleaching agent for the disproportionation of rosin and rosin esters:
- Abietic acid represents 25 to 40% by weight of tall oil rosin.
- Rosin is composed of abietic acid, which is susceptible to oxidation and crystallization.
- Rosinox® converts abietic acid into dehydroabietic acid and bleaches rosin.
Advantages and features of Rosinox® :
- Reduction of abietic acid content in rosin and rosin esters
- Increased dehydroabietic acid content in rosin and rosin esters
- Color reduction drosins and esters
- Similar behavior of Rosinox® whether in tall oil rosin or esterified or unesterified gum rosin.
- Antioxidant/stabilizer in rosin and ester processing
- Efficient even at low doses
- Easy to handle (past form)
- No handling of dusty powder
- Rosinox® is FDA-approved as an antioxidant/stabilizer in the processing of rosins and rosin esters for use as components in adhesives complying with FDA 21 CFR 175.105.
